A cafe that lives up to its name : The Prep Room @ Sri Hartamas

When you are hungry, you know this is the place you must visit – a healthy feast prepared by an earnest and merciful couple. This cafe lives up to its name, “The Prep Room” prepares everything from sausages & bread to sauces & marmalde from scratch. One thing I admire them a lot is the hard work of decorating the entire cafe with Zaki’s (the owner) water colour paintings. Check out their menu, it’s just like a story book.

and when I looked up, the ceiling is filled with Zaki’s artwork too.

The Prep Room has been around for a little more than a year. To celebrate their little mislestone , Kuan Ling (the owner) has created a few dishes to reminisce her childhood and working abroad experience.

The new dishes are Prep’s Chicken Wings, Tok Wan Salad, Shaolin Pasta, Sea Barrel, Thai Spaghetti, All Day Brekkie, Irene’s Brownie, Yeastes Waffle and A few signature drinks such as cappuccino, toffee and Caramel.

Look at the amount of food I had yesterday! I don’t have to worry about my diet because everything here is prepared by the hearty couples (owner), which means not the kind of processed food that will make you fat. And, the whole table of food only costs me around RM70+.

I had the yummiest yet cheapest salad in town, only RM10 can you believe that?

and my Thai Basil Chicken costs me only RM13 which serves with a drink & dessert.

There is a reason for the lower-than-expected prices here. I was really touched by the owner’s idea that some meals make you feel poor. It rings a bell on my first working year, when my salary was very low and I had so many commitments in life. I still remember a Nasi Lemak in Subang Jaya that costs me RM15 last time, it was a shock of life for fresh graduates. Miserable life.

The Prep Room is helmed by the founder of Penang’s Coffee Elements, they want to maintain identical prices in both cafes and making eaters happy here.  Check out their menu again, how much is a cup of good quality coffee imported from Bangkok?

The Prep Room founder , Zaki’s four years working stint in Bangkok has inspired him on prepping the ingredients. One of the highly recommended mains is the Sea Barrel. The Prep Room’s fish, prawns, squids are fresh from the market (not frozen). The couple (Zaki & Kuan Ling) likes Soda , so they tried to bring out the natural crispy flavor by adding in some soda . You can also dipping it with fresh coriander & lime juice to bring out the ummphh.

Yeasted Waffle : yeasted fermanetation gives savory taste to the Waffle better👍.

their sauces & peanuts paste are house-made, not canned. They even bake their own bread ❤
