Wait, I know Swiss rolls, but never heard about Japanese-style rolls, are they the same? Yes, they are actually chiffon cake, but what makes Japanese-style rolls special is the baking method. The pastry chef has to separate the eggs ( and make sure the eggs are all fresh), beating the whites to a fluffy mass which is folded into the egg yolk batter (source: The Malaymailonline Lee Kha Yi) . This is how the cake remains fluffy and moist, just like a touch of a feather.

There are two flavours: Hojicha & Uji Matcha. I am a huge fan of Uji Matcha so no doubt trying the Uji Match Japanese-style roll cake is expected.
Japanese cakes never fail to impress. I have always keen to try out every dessert inspired or created by the Japanese, from ice cream to egg tart to cake. Not being exaggerated but the cloud-like whipped dairy cream + the flowing flavoured Uji Matcha really brought me on cloud nine. Feeling like floating on air for a few seconds when the Japanese rolls melt in my mouth.
Not too sweet, surprisingly. The cakes are selling at RM10 per slice or RM18 for a pair. Perfect for dating! (Trust me, you have to try both flavours).
They also offering pre-order Hojicha mousse tart & Matcha cake for this coming Mother’s Day. The pre-order period from 29th April – 8th May. (Pictures courtesy of Kakigori)
No regret after trying, sekali cuba, hari-hari mau. So, go try la~ haha !
